BIOGRAPHY

Versatile session musician, guitarist, tutor, composer, producer and arranger Sven Sauber was born in Luxembourg in 1986. Growing up in a music rich environment Sven was inspired to pick up the saxophone and engage in a variety of musical activities from a young age onwards. Aged fifteen he found his true love in the guitar and has not looked back ever since.

Over the next couple of years Sven continued a classical musical education and competed successfully in a variety of local and international competitions for young musicians. He then took some guitar lessons at a local music school before joining the jazz section of the Luxembourgish Conservatoire. During this period he also started his first band and to compose original material. In 2006 Sven gained his first studio experiences while recording the album ‘Suffering/Dreaming’ with the Luxembourgish metal band Ophidian at the WPA studios.

In 2008 Sven finished his secondary education and received the Luxembourgish National Diploma of the Educator. During the same year he was involved in the EP ‘In Search Of Happiness’ by the pop group Carradine which spend five weeks on top of Luxembourgish radio charts. Later that year he won a full scholarship by the Bertram Pohl Foundation for private tuition from professional musicians in Paris which included lessons from Chester Thompson (Frank Zappa, Genesis), Luis Conte (Santana, Pat Metheny) and Angie Cassaux-Berthias (Supertramp, Bobby McFerrin). Thereafter, Sven started teaching guitar and music theory at the Ron Steven’s Pop Music Academy.

After moving to London in 2009 Sven studied at the Tech Music School, part of the University of West London, to study at their BMus (hons) course in Popular Music Performance from which he graduated with 1st class honours in 2012. He had the privilege to study under highly acclaimed professionals such as John Wheatcroft, Mike Outram, Jim Clark, Femi Temowa, Al Cherry, Andrew McKinney, Kewin Webster, John Cook, Phelan Kane, Simon Carter and many others.

Sven moved back to Luxembourg in 2015 and quickly made a name for himself as a reliable and versatile sideman for all kinds of projects and bands. Playing amongst other with and for: The Grund Club Songwriters, The Grund Club Voices, Snoop’s Under-the-Roof Band, Lata Gouveia, Spaghetti Western, Kid Colling, Marc Welter’s Joint Bunch, Sitta and many others. He is also teaching guitar at the music school in Pétange.
His first solo record 'Another Day' was released on the 27th of September 2020 at the Opderschmelz in Dudelange.
